Sri Sathuragiri Biyamal Dye & Lakshimi Works, founded in 1983 by Vaiyanasari and officially opened in 1999, specializes in handcrafted jewellery, preserving cultural heritage for over 30 years. Their collection includes Temple Jewellery, Kundan, Polki, Jadau, and Antique Gold designs. Madurai has a deep history of goldsmithing, dating back to the Pandya dynasty, where goldsmiths collaborated with temples like the Meenakshi Amman Temple to create golden offerings and decorations. Traditional jewellery, such as Raja Rani sets, Vanki, and Jhumkas, holds cultural significance. Different regions in South India have unique goldsmithing traditions, with Kerala known for Muthu Mala and Kasumala, Karnataka for Bidriware, and Andhra Pradesh for intricate Nakkashi designs. One of the finest gold crafting techniques is Lakshmi Nakas Work, which involves embossing or engraving the image of Goddess Lakshmi in gold, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. The process includes design sketching, material preparation, embossing, engraving, and final polishing, ensuring each piece maintains its divine appeal.
